You know how your kids tend to fixate on certain objects (toys, blankets, books, videos, foods etc...)? Well a few months ago when we were having a yeard sale and whild preoccupied, Jaymee got a hold of a pair of scissors and cut her waist length hari to her shoulders, some parts were even shorter. Needless to say I completely freaked out, wnt a little overboard emotionally, and finally came to my senses realizing it could have been worse.
I took her to a professional to fix it and with a little comb over and a sholder lenght bob it was fixed. From that day on, every time anyone used scissors in from of Jaymee, she would look at them, grab a handul of her hair and say, "Jaymee cut the hair". Since she has had this certain fascination, we all make a conscious effort to keep scissors outof reach and hidden. ONe day I went into my room to talk to my mother. When I heard giggling coming from the kitchen, knowing this was never a good sign, I immediately ran to find Jaymee in teh final stages of cutting off ALL of her hair. There she was, looking like a new army recruit standing with scissors in one hand, a clump of hair in the other, and the entire kitchen floor covered in what used to be her beautiful hair. As I stood there in a total state of shock, I eventually thougth, again this could be worse, maybe we can just give her an even shorter hair cut. It wasn't until I turned her around so I could assess the damage that I realized it was worse, she had four large bald spots randomly placed on the back of her head. Well, here I sit almost a week later, looking over at my daughter with a custom fashioned Mohawk, partially bald hairdo, and I think to myself, WHO LEFT THE SCISSORS OUT?
