Kyle's "Seussical" Christmas Poem December 2007
by Sue Sokoff
It's the holiday season
It's hard to understand the reason
Why all the girls and boys
Are here full of noise
There's gramps and giddy grammie
I don't care that I'm still in my polka dot pajammie
There's Jolly Joe and Persnickety Pru
All with something festive to do
Don't come in this house
Echoing Edna from Taos
And talk too loud
This year not allowed!
Though I love to watch the blinking Christmas lights
And listen to the crackling o'paper delights
The smell of the Turkey and the clam stuffing bake
Is mongo more than I can take
Don't mind me if I eat my spaghetti, Busy-Body-Betty
It's Christmas, no time to be petty
And excuse me for feeling buggy if I sit too long
If I'm gone in 5 minutes, there's nothing wrong
What's with all the touching, hugs and kisses?
Do you think running from Grabby-Gladys leaves fond reminisces?
I guess the best of it I'll try to make
By dashing to mom's big chocolate cake
This present thing is cool
Mom's soft sweater o'wool
And dad's bird chirping clock
I love my shiny emery rock!
I don't get this riot
Would you all kindly be more quiet?
I dare not be rude
Or have a bad attitude
With so many voices
Leaves me with no more choices
But retreat to my room, my quiet place
To give me my own quiet space
And get away from all the commotion
Now there's a good notion
Relax, maybe rock or stim
Oh no, there in my chair sits Jiggly-Jim!
